WHY NUTRACEUTICALS?
"Why Vitamins and Minerals"
Insulite’s Diabetes Advanced Management Nutraceutical formulas have been researched and developed utilizing a blend of over 30 pure nutrients which each play a specific role in helping your body to increase insulin sensitivity at a cellular level.
Did you know that the medical community is now beginning to understand how vitally important it is for our cells to receive the correct amounts of nutrients and minerals - such as Alpha-Lipoic Acid, Chromium, Vitamin D and Magnesium - in order to effectively process insulin and glucose? If fact a recent survey reported that nearly three out of four Cardiologists, Dermatologists, and Orthopedic specialists are now taking and/or recommending vitamin supplements to their patients.
Yet how many times have you heard someone say, “I eat three good meals a day, why do I need any vitamins?”
The real questions are, are you really eating a healthy, balanced diet? and Is my diet sufficient to have a meaningful impact on improving my health? For those of us with type 2 diabetes, a poor diet is often an underlying cause for insulin resistance which has ultimately contributed to developing diabetes.
Our modern diets often lack the balance of nutrients our bodies require to maintain optimum health. Sugars and carbohydrates are at the top of the list of foods that have a negative impact on insulin sensitivity. Today, high levels of simple carbohydrates like bagels, pasta and pizza, as well as voluminous levels of sugar in found in oversized desserts, huge candy bars, etc. dominate the diets of many of us. We find “hidden sugar” in almost everything we eat from processed meats to sugar sprinkled into dried fruits.
Nutrition requires the complex interaction of many elements to be effective in fueling your body. Nutraceutical formulas help to fill the void by providing higher volumes, and the proper balance of vitamins, herbs, and minerals our systems need to maintain or restore health. For example, did you know that magnesium is required for more than 350 enzymatic reactions in the human body? Yet studies indicate that as few as one in four people have a dietary intake of magnesium that meets RDA levels.
Once upon a time, before the industrial revolution one could argue that our diets gave us what we needed. Higher quantities of fruits and vegetables were the rule, not the exception. Our carbohydrate intake took the form of whole grains that were produced in an environment that today would earn the label “organic.” Natural fertilizers nurtured healthy, nutrient rich, tasty foods. That’s dramatically changed.
Our Changing Earth Because of the increase in industrialized farming, our once nutrient-rich farmlands have been depleted through the widespread use of artificial fertilizers, irradiation of vegetables, over planting, and failure to practice healthy crop rotations. As a result, today’s food supply is often lacking in the nutritional value our bodies expect and need. On the meat side of the equation we eat beef, pork, and poultry that have been raised on poor diets, drugs and hormones to speed production and increase weight and often, in inhumane environments.
This combination of lower quality food production and the increased popularity of an unbalanced, nutritionally-deficient diet has led to a need for additional nutritional support.
Doctors are now Recommending Dietary Supplements
The medical community is now beginning to grasp the vital importance and power that nutrients offer in helping us maintain our health and transform disease into health. In fact, the Dec. 2008 issue of Functional Ingredients reported that a "Healthcare Professionals Impact Study” found a dramatic increase in the number of medical specialists who are both taking, and are now recommending dietary supplements to their patients.
Orthopedic specialists — (73%) of orthopedic specialists use dietary supplements…Nearly all orthopedic specialists who take supplements recommend them to their patients (94%). Even 82% of orthopedic specialists who do not take supplements still recommend them to their patients. In total, 91% of orthopedic specialists recommend supplements to their patients. The top reasons include: bone health (75%), joint health (73%), musculoskeletal pain (53%) and overall health and wellness benefits (25%).
Cardiologists — More than half (57%) of cardiologists use dietary supplements. The top
reasons they do so include: overall health and wellness benefits (32%), heart health (29%), lower cholesterol (20%) and energy (17%)… Among the 72% of total cardiologists recommending supplements, the top reasons for doing so include: lower cholesterol (58%), heart health (55%), maintain healthy cholesterol (36%), and overall health and wellness benefits (30%).
Dermatologists — Three-quarters of dermatologists use dietary supplements.
The top reasons for this include: overall health and wellness benefits (42%); bone health (24%); skin, hair and nails (16%); heart health (15%) and anti-ageing (14%)
Insulite’ system includes a carefully formulated combination of nutraceuticals which naturally change the interaction of individual cell membranes with insulin and glucose – they contain components that research has shown to increase insulin sensitivity.
As part of this system you will be taking up to twelve capsules a day. While it may seem like a lot, the quantities of certain nutrients needed to achieve nutritional balance do not always fit into a single pill that is comfortably swallowed.
The Insulite Diabetes Advanced Management System’s Nutraceutical program plays a key role in filling the void
Those of us with insulin-resistant conditions such as diabetes, pre-diabetes, metabolic syndrome, PCOS, excess weight gain, and obesity now have another very important tool to use in our journey to a healthy life - nutraceutical formulas.
Nutrition only works effectively with the right combination of nutrients
Mother Nature demands some very specific and complex combinations of nutrients in order to achieve good health. It is clear that a properly balanced combination of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and fatty acids are fundamental to our core metabolism. A group of these known as “essential” are needed for good health, but cannot be manufactured by our bodies. We can only get them through what we eat. If you aren’t ingesting the right amount and kinds of these nutrients, your cells cannot function effectively. If your cells are functioning inefficiently then disease could be the eventual result.
Why complete and balanced nutrition is so important for you
Let’s look at a few examples of how nutritional balance is critical to diabetics.
Without adequate amounts of the mineral magnesium, the process of converting sugars from our diet into energy is impaired. Numerous studies have shown that people with uncorrected magnesium deficiency are much more likely to go on to develop insulin resistance and eventual diabetes within a relatively short period of time.
Chromium’s primary job is to allow your cells to accept insulin. If you suffer from pre-diabetes, diabetes, or any other insulin-resistant disease, and if you are not ingesting enough chromium, your cells can’t process insulin. Insulin and glucose levels become unbalanced and your health can deteriorate. When your cells receive the correct amount of chromium, they begin processing insulin more effectively and the complications of your disease may begin to reverse.
Alpha-Lipoic Acid is essential to breaking sugar down into a usable form that can be burned for energy. It also affects glucose transport, which results in increased insulin sensitivity and lower glucose levels. Lipoic acid is also an antioxidant with many vital protective functions, including extending the functional capacity of vitamin C, vitamin E and CoQ10. Lipoic acid is also one important way to raise glutathione levels, critical to people with diabetes that need to remove the toxic byproducts of excessive blood sugar.
Free Radicals are molecules that “react” quickly with proteins, fats and carbohydrates in the body. Our systems require free radicals, in excessive amounts these free radicals damage your cellular membrane, accelerate aging, and promote the disease process. Stress can play an important role in the creation of excess free radicals.
The Insulite nutraceutical formulas include a combination of antioxidants, such as vitamin C, alpha-lipoic acid, taurine, catechins, grape seed extract, quercitin, and others. These molecules have broad roles in protecting various cellular compartments against the production of free radicals that might impair energy production, damage cell membranes, or interfere with efficient cell repair.
The Insulite nutraceuticals include a combination of antioxidants such as vitamin C and alpha-lipoic acid which seek out free radicals; grape seed extract to reduce them, and quercetin which contains antioxidant, anti-carcinogenic and anti-inflammatory properties to inhibit free radical production. Working together, these nutrients can help eliminate excessive quantities of free radicals in the body.
Insulite’s Nutraceutical formulas provide balance

With your body processing insulin and glucose at a more efficient level, you are able to maintain greater health and feel more vitality, as well as stave off the complications of these insulin and glucose-related disorders, such as heart disease, neuropathy, amputation, diminished eyesight, and even blindness.
Our carefully selected blend of nutrients and herbs are each purposefully included to support an increase in your insulin sensitivity. To see a detailed description of each of the ingredients in the Insulite Diabetes Advanced Management Nutritional System click here.
It is unrealistic to expect a single pill to reverse insulin resistance. The Insulite Diabetes Advanced Self Management System is the first comprehensive approach that combines diet, exercise, addiction/cravings awareness, a 52 week support protocol, and nutraceuticals¹ ( a carefully formulated combination of vitamins, minerals, herbs, fiber, and antioxidants).
Studies identify the value of the Insulite System Health Model
In a landmark study published in the New England Journal of Medicine, doctors divided patients into two groups of eighty people each, one group receiving conventional drug therapy and the other group receiving “multifactorial intervention,” an approach similar to the Insulite System, which involved exercise, lifestyle modification, dietary recommendations, and a vitamin and mineral supplements.
This study was also noteworthy because it was carried out over the course of almost eight years. Doctors measured the rate of key complications of diabetes including nephropathy (kidney complications), retinopathy (eye complications), cardiovascular events, neuropathy (peripheral nerve complications), and autonomic neuropathy. Those in the “multifactorial intervention group” experienced an almost 50 percent reduction in nearly all of the complications of diabetes (except neuropathy, which was comparable in each group). While the trial lasted almost eight years, favorable outcomes were similar after only four years. Please click here to read the entire article.

We address the whole person in a realistic way. Our Nutraceutical Plan is based on scientific research that targets the root causes of diabetes — namely insulin resistance combined with unhealthy eating habits and lack of exercise.
Insulite’s Nutraceutical formulas
The Insulite Nutraceutical Plan includes four specifically designed blends of nutrients to support an increase in insulin sensitivity.

SensitX: A carefully formulated combination of nutraceuticals which naturally change the interaction of individual cell membranes with insulin and glucose contains components that prior research has shown to increase insulin sensitivity. Then, cells can accept glucose more efficiently for energy, thus reducing circulating blood glucose and lowering the body's insulin need to a more natural level. When insulin and glucose are better balanced, overall health and well being can improve. SensitX is also formulated to support healthy blood lipids.*
RejuvenX: A high potency blend of herbs, antioxidants and vitamins, which focuses on improving the vessels of the cardiovascular system as well as cellular vitality. RejuvenX is designed to repair cardiovascular vessel integrity, minimize free-radical damage, and reverse symptoms associated with elevated insulin.*
GlucX: A combination of natural fibers designed to help regulate the absorption of glucose into the blood stream while maintaining a healthy cholesterol balance. GLUCX can help reduce and control blood sugar. Additionally, research demonstrates the benefits of high fiber intake with regard to weight loss and its cardio-protective effects.*
Meta-Omega X: By providing omega-3 fatty acids EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), Meta-Omega X is designed to provide the raw materials that support blood vessel integrity, regulation of inflammation, and improved blood lipid profiles. The effect of EPA and DHA on cardiovascular health is well documented in research literature. Essential fatty acids (also known as EFAs) can also be found in oils made from flax seed, hemp, walnut, pumpkin, soy, algae and cold water fish. Cold water fish contain the EPA and DHA directly without requiring the body to convert Omega 3 fatty acids to this more active form.*
